Code Blue
|
Code Blue
Like a nervous habit it’s out of my control
Made a conscious effort but couldn’t break the mold
Set a trend and sealed it with what used to be
Crumpled thoughts in a waste basket of memories
Can’t crack the code
Skipped the beat, ended the flow
A mixed signal scenario
Spun the dial with high hopes
But I just can’t crack the code
Started from scratch with hopes of finding a way out
A means of escape, determined to reroute
Took a different path, but ended up in the same place
A continuous cycle of ground retraced

All Hail The Gossip Kings and Queens
|
All Hail the Gossip Kings and Queens
All hail the gossip kings and queens
Promotions to their kin
French Manicure, Virginia Slimmed
Hydrating throats of lies
Around the water cooler
Greet you with a smile wide
And pounce your backs no sooner
Twisting and turning and bending and bruising the truth
May we be strengthened to strengthen and not to abuse
Search the tabloids
For a blueprint of conversation
Suspicious minds fly circus acts
Applause of celebration
Cuff an ear and whisper secrets silent
Laugh and point
Inflated ego back flipping defiance
They’ll take many forms
The most popular is friend
Leaving the word trust a myth
And rumors to defend
I’ve heard I sell Bibles
To which I’ve no defense
Care to see my line
Of gold plated New Testaments

So Cliche
|
So Cliché
In an effort not to take ourselves too seriously
We wrote this song with our cliché abilities
We’ll say fight (x8) the powers that be
And jump (x8) out of mediocrity
It will be the song equivalent
Of getting engaged
With flowers and a diamond
On Valentines Day
Oh, Oh, Oh
Hey, Hey, Hey
Listen to this song and say:
That’s so cliché!
We’ll try and make a statement without taking sides
Just so we can sell enough copies to survive
We’ll say fight (x8) the powers that be
And go, go, go, go, maybe even daddy-o
Throw in a harmony

Island Getaway
|
Island Getaway
Daybreak awakens
My eyes can’t adjust to see
Sit back and lose track
Of the time that passes me
Stumble to the shoreline
To catch the ocean breeze
The rising of the tide
Floods a thousand memories
Miles away
On my Island getaway
Oh how far
No chance for a rescue
Soak the torches down
My message in a bottle
Buried deep within the ground
Yet somehow you find me
Despite my vanishing off screen
Your steadfast love on high pursuit
Abounds for even me
Miles away
On my Island Getaway
Oh how far
I’ve strayed

Neumatology
Hailing from Second City, the Neumatics have been unleashing our blend of guitar-driven rock and roll since March 2005. Refusing to use such terminology as “disbanded” or harsh relational verbage like “break-up,” we’ve chosen the less poignant “indefinite hiatus.” We played many venues around Chicago and even received the following review of our EP by some random writer on the internet:
The Neumatics are a four-piece rock band from Chicago. Since their first gig in 2005 they have played a number of local venues. This six-track EP is their first release. The production is not as high as it could be, as the lyrics are slightly muffled, but what comes over is seriously good fun. The second track, “So Cliché”, is bouncy and energetic and starts with a lyric something about not taking themselves too seriously! Track four begins with “Please step to the front of the hall, the show is about to start”. With thumping basslines and crunchy guitar riffs, this is a case of getting the audience bouncing along. I can imagine that any one of their gigs is likely to be raucous fun. I still have no idea what the title means but the guitar playing made it enjoyably boisterous stadium rock.
I may just use that for my epitaph.
Like most bands who haven’t played together for a while, we still have a Facebook page.
